How to Create and Select Product Mockups | Apliiq

Create and select product mockups

Mockups are customer-facing product images that show your design on the selected product colors. The customizer recommends mockups based on the product and the artwork included in your design.

Review the mockup summary

Open the review panel and find the Mockups row. The summary displays the number selected and the number available, such as 4 of 5 mockups selected.

Select the row to expand the available mockups.

Choose which mockups to create

Each available mockup includes:

  • A thumbnail when one is available.

  • A friendly mockup name.

  • A control showing whether the mockup is selected.

Recommended mockups are selected automatically. Turn off mockups you do not need, or select additional mockups before generation.

Choose mockups that clearly show the decoration placements used in your design. For example, a back decoration should have at least one selected mockup that displays the back of the product.

Generate mockups

  1. Complete the artwork placement in Design mode.

  2. Review the selected mockups in the review panel.

  3. Switch from Design to Mockup mode.

  4. Wait while the selected images are created.

  5. Review the results on every selected product color.

The design/mockup switch starts generation. There is no separate generate button in the review panel.

If no mockup is selected, the customizer prompts you to select a mockup or add artwork rather than starting an empty generation request.

How artwork is used in mockups

Mockup generation uses the prepared PNG shown in the workspace. When recoloring or stroke editing is active, it uses the processed PNG containing those edits.

An attached vector, layered, PDF, or other high-resolution production file remains available for production but is not sent through the mockup generator. This provides a more predictable visual result

Mockups and production artwork are different

Mockups are visual previews intended to help display and sell the product. They are not substitutes for production artwork and should not be used to judge fine production details, exact thread construction, or print texture.

Always review:

  • The artwork's physical dimensions.

  • Its quality assessment.

  • The selected decoration method.

  • The placement shown in Design mode.

If a mockup is unavailable

Some mockups may not support every product color or decoration placement. If a selected mockup cannot be produced, return to the mockup list and choose another available view.
