How To Nail Standard Artwork Placements For Your Clothing Line

Are you having trouble figuring out the "right" artwork placements to make your designs look great?  If so, fear not, with a few simple tips you will know all the fundamentals to ensure your finished products turn out great.  Let's jump in and discuss the basic principles and you will be designing like a pro in no time.

The Golden Rule Of 3" For Chest Placements

For just about any shirt or sweatshirt with a standard crew neck collar, 3" down from the neck will look right.

The Lower The Neck, The Higher The Placements

For shirts with lower cut collars, the artwork placement should be adjusted UP.  So for a vneck t shirt, a placement of 2" from the neck will look right.  For a deep vneck or tank top, 1"- 1.5" down from the neck will look right.

The "Taller" The Artwork, The Higher The Placements

In some cases you will want to print artwork that is very tall and narrow, in these cases you may want to adjust the height of the artwork placement up.

Getting Left Breast And Right Breast Placements That Look Great

The appropriate placement for left breast and right breast placements require an offset from the right or left of the center of the garment.  However, the offset will depend on the width of the artwork to be printed AND the size of the shirt you are printing on.  For these reasons, you can't specify and exact placement using inches.  Instead, it's best to call out "standard left breast" or "standard right breast" our printing team will know the correct placement based on the size of the artwork and the size of the garment.
