How to set and release safety stock
Safety stock, is stock that you want to set aside so it's not available for sale. Safety stock can set to ensure you don't oversell products, or so you hold some reserve inventory for a specific purpose like an upcoming event.
How to set safety stock
You can set a safety stock level for each sku at each warehouse location. When you set a safety stock it will reduce your available quantity. When you reduce your safety stock you will increase your available quantity.
- To set safety stock go to your warehouse page.
- Find the sku you want to set the safety stock for and pick "set safety stock" from the action list.
- Enter a value for safety stock and click save.
- Select "sync inventory" to publish this change to your store immediately.
How to reduce safety stock
Follow the same steps as above, but enter a reduced value for safety stock. For example, to release all safety stock, set it to 0.
