Are you looking to create a patch that has a specific shape?  If so, you likely will need to add a border to indicate the thread color you want for the border.  You may also need to "fill in" some transparent areas to give the shape of your patch a nice smooth shape.

Remember, we can only sew down patches that have smooth outline shapes!!!
